Biography
My life has been a process of coming home to me, to remember and reconnect with my wholeness.
Hello, I’m Maggie Battista. I’m a writer, storyteller, strategist, ritualist, mystic, and soul voice practitioner.
At long last, I have come home to myself and now lead an enriched life aligned with my soul.
I have redesigned my work in a way that centers my wholeness, softness and nourishment. I work in sync with the seasons of the earth and also the internal seasons of my soul to create and nurture my own particular art, and I hold space for others to do the same.
After decades of work driven by a sense of urgency, start-up culture, the heaviness of capitalism, and a tireless ambition, I was called back to my softness and unearthed a way to understand and align my mind, body, spirit and soul - and it has revealed and enhanced my purpose.
Over the course of my work life, I’ve launched some of the first internet start-ups; built engaged communities of millions; designed intentional brands, including an award-winning retail brand; and operated hospitality businesses here and in France. I’ve raised funds for organizations and people in crisis, and written two cookbooks and multiple essays on how we relate to food and our bodies.
I am a first generation immigrant, a child of a Honduran mother and an Italian-American father, and I am unlearning and relearning how to hold and heal the colonized and colonizer within my own lineage and my own body every day.
I am a 1/3 Manifesting Generator in human design. As a ‘1 line’ in human design, I am here to dive deep into things and understand the details. I investigate whatever I am drawn to, whatever lights me up, so I’ve spent thousands of hours studying, learning and practicing the following: human design, astrology, breath work, soul center medicine, the gene keys, lunar living, anti-racism, decolonization, feminism and feminist business, feminist marketing, alignment and well-being, manifestation, meditation and presence, the vedas, yoga and asanas, soul tarot, the akashic records, dream study, the inner voice, writing and storytelling, as well as nourishment and rest.
As a ‘3 line’ in human design, I learn by doing and making mistakes. I have embraced this trial and error process and allow my exploration of colonization (and divesting from so many other systems) to unfold naturally.
Some of my guides have been/are: intuitive mentor Monica Carota, feminist marketer Kelly Diels, meditation teacher Emily Fletcher, energy intuitive Lee Harris, breath work facilitator Amy Kuretsky, business energetics guide Amy Lea, inner voice teacher Jess Lively, and embodied soul guide Melissa Sandon.
My whole life has been a process of coming home to myself.
From being a child of immigrants (growing up in places foreign to my family). From working in start-up tech (behind a computer, in a male dominated industry). From working in hospitality and place-making (in front of people, cultivating community). From running a food business (feeding others). From writing two cookbooks (unpacking my relationship to food and my body).
All of this led me to realign to my values, interrogate capitalism, remember my relationship with my ancestors and reconnect with my guides, begin to understand decolonization, and connect to my wholeness.
As part of this unfolding, my soul called me to develop my inner voice five plus years ago. My soul called me to evaluate how every area of my life upholds my values. My soul called me to understand my energy (soul) and my breath (spirit). My soul called me home.
Like everyone, I have experienced traumas through this unfolding. As I began to feel more whole, more centered, more aligned, I experienced so many changes including moving to a more aligned home near the sea (the elements help me connect to my intuition), ending a twenty year relationship, and starting this new business. This is all a beautiful, complex, outgrowth, a blossoming, from a lifetime of coming home to myself.
