Peaceful, Not Perfect

Perfection is the myth of capitalism.

Perfection is the myth of capitalism, the patriarchy, and the unjust systems that have existed in this country for four hundred years. It's the myth of things like SAT scores and school report cards. It's the myth you've been told by your parents and teachers and mentors when you were barely waist-high.

There is no such thing as perfection. Humans cannot be perfect. To aspire to be perfect is a waste of time. It's a trap that shames you into believing that you're not whole just as you are, that you need to do more to be deemed valuable.

The pursuit of perfection has planted a myriad of disorders that are designed to keep you in a lack mentality. To pursue that perfection is what you have known, it's what's comfortable.

To be peaceful is far more interesting. To be peaceful creates space for you to explore all the possibilities and do all the things that bring you joy. To be peaceful is to wish for that same space for others.
