A silent 21-night walk through sacred time

The Listening

Your practice page — for those walking with me

Welcome, sweet soul. You're in. Below is everything you need for the 21 nights—how each evening runs, the nights you'll walk alone, how to prepare your space, and the full landscape of energies we'll move through together. You don't need to memorize any of it. Come back to this page whenever you need it—the password to this page is in your confirmation email.

How Each Night Works

We gather on Zoom at 6:00 PM Mountain Time (5 PT · 7 CT · 8 ET). Hold the window through 6:45 so there's room to come up gently at the end. I open the circle over the first ten minutes and call in the night's energy, we drop into 20 minutes of shared silence together, and then we surface to remember what came through—those who wish to, share.

Lie back—on the earth, in your bed, or on the floor of your quiet room—eyes closed, to the sky or to the ceiling above you, and listen for what wants to come through on the air.

Your Five Solo Nights

Five nights are yours alone. On those, the practice comes to you by email in the morning—my voice, the 20 minutes of silence, and the close—so that night you can lie down in your own dark and listen without us. There's no Zoom on these nights. They are how you learn to do this on your own.

Your solo nights are:

Sep 3 (3 K'at), Sep 11 (11 E'), Sep 13 (13 Ix), Sep 16 (3 No'j), and Sep 20 (7 Imox).

To Prepare Your Space

A quiet place where you can lie back undisturbed. A mat, a rug, a bed, or blanket beneath you, and something to keep you warm. Dim the lights, or light a candle if you'd like. An eye mask is helpful. A warm beverage—Cacao, tea, whatever your heart wants—is welcome but never required. Come with an open heart, and with whatever questions you're carrying.

The 21 Nights — The Landscape

These are not only the energies of the calendar. They are the energies of a life. We open on the first breath and close on the breath returned to its fullness, walking all twenty energies between.

Tue, Sep 1 · 1 Iq' — Breath. Air. Spirit. The first inhale, and the wind that carries every message home.

Wed, Sep 2 · 2 Aq'ab'al — The threshold of dawn and dusk; the door swinging open between the dark and the light.

Thu, Sep 3 · 3 K'at (on your own) — The net you cast and the basket you carry; gathering the threads of your life with open hands.

Fri, Sep 4 · 4 Kan — The serpent; life force waking and rising through the length of the body.

Sat, Sep 5 · 5 Kame — The passage; what is ready to die so something truer can be reborn.

Sun, Sep 6 · 6 Kej — The deer and the four directions; the steady, four-footed strength of the earth beneath you.

Mon, Sep 7 · 7 Q'anil — The seed; fertility, ripening, and what you are quietly planting.

Tue, Sep 8 · 8 Toj — The sacred fire; offering and reciprocity, payment made and blessing received.

Wed, Sep 9 · 9 Tzi — The faithful guide; loyalty, sacred law, the one who walks beside you and does not leave.

Thu, Sep 10 · 10 B'atz — The thread of time and the weaver who spins it; creativity, artistry, and the start of every new beginning.

Fri, Sep 11 · 11 E' (on your own) — The road; the path that was always yours, opening one step ahead of your feet.

Sat, Sep 12 · 12 Aj — The reed and the spine; home, sovereignty, the quiet authority that needs no crown.

Sun, Sep 13 · 13 Ix (on your own) — The jaguar; earth magic and the solitary keeper who moves in silence.

Mon, Sep 14 · 1 Tz'ikin — The bird; vision, freedom, the messenger flying between the worlds.

Tue, Sep 15 · 2 Ajmak — Forgiveness; the ancestors, and what is pardoned, softened, and released.

Wed, Sep 16 · 3 No'j (on your own) — Wisdom; the clear mind, the good thought, the knowing that rises when the noise quiets.

Thu, Sep 17 · 4 Tijax — The obsidian blade; truth-telling, and the clean cut through what no longer serves.

Fri, Sep 18 · 5 Kawok — The storm; the rain that clears everything, washing the path for what is being reborn.

Sat, Sep 19 · 6 Ajpu — The solar hero; the sun, fully seen, the light that leads you home.

Sun, Sep 20 · 7 Imox (on your own) — The deep waters; the dream, the source, the receptive depths beneath all knowing.

Mon, Sep 21 · 8 Iq' — Breath, returned to fullness. The full inhale. The spirit risen, the walk complete.

When the Walk is Complete

The Listening is 21 nights. The practice is a lifetime.

When we close on 8 Iq', some of you will feel it: the not-wanting-to-stop. The silence has become a place you know how to find, and you want somewhere to keep finding it.

That place is The Altar—my sacred online community, where your Soul becomes your guide and your ancestors walk beside you. We follow the Sacred Calendar together through the trecenas, gather live several times each month in Cacao and ceremony, and sit in silence together as we have these 21 nights. Everything you've built here continues there.

If you join The Altar by Monday, September 28, write to me and I will refund your $44 in full. Not because you changed your mind—but because you didn't. Consider The Listening my gift to you, and simply keep walking.

Already a member of The Altar? Then you are already home. The silence is waiting for you there each month.

And so it is. Maltiox. Maltiox. Maltiox.
